These tiger-like humanoids are fierce and poised individuals who love the wilderness.

Settlements

Rus usually gather in small clan settlements of less than a 100 houses.

Sod Houses

Rus live in houses made of earth and long prairie grass that can be quite comfortable, but look rustic to most other races.

Nomads

Some still follow their traditional nomadic ways in settlements made of circular tents of felt or skins built with a collapsible framework.

Children

The children are raised by the whole clan. They live with their parents until they are 8. Between 8 and 12, they live in the communal children house. Between 12 and 14, they live in the communal young house.

Once they are 14, they can return to the family home and are expected to expand it for their own use. If they have found a mate, or more than one, they can go their own way, even found a new settlement.

Eldest

The 2 eldest females and the 2 eldest males of a clan are considered the Eldest and the leaders of that clan. They govern by votes and any tie are broken by supremacy.

Supremacy

If one of the Eldest is a warrior, their vote breaks a tie in matters of war. If one of the eldest is a magic user, their vote breaks a tie in matters of magic. And so on for every possible subject.

If there's no supremacy on any given subject, the Eldest bring the eldest person who has the sought knowledge to vote and break the tie.

Justice

Each clan has a set of written rules. Each rule is either personal, minor or major.

Personal rules are usually rules of etiquette. When broken, no formal consequences are imposed, but it does bring shame when formally brought in front of the Eldest.

Minor rules are rule of importance that regulate the clan's day to day life. When broken, a formal penance is imposed. When an individual receives a second penance in its life, they might face exile. The third one is an automatic exile.

Major rules are things concerning what is forbidden. When broken, a trial is held. If found guilty, the individual is exiled.

Values

Be At Peace

Whatever a rus does, it does it accepting the consequences. They know and accept that what will be, will be. They see free will and freedom as an expression of their true self and that within this truth lies a single inescapable life direction.

Be Respectful

Be it an ancestor, an elder, a friend, a partner, a stranger, a rus will always be respectful on first contact, about new things, or simply when they don't know how to react. What comes after, can vary, though. It will depend wether that individual or thing is worthy of respect.

Be Wild

A rus loves and respect wilderness, because inside every individual is something that need to respond to it, making them fierce hunters and warriors.

Language

Rusan is a very growly hissy kind of language that few but other feline races, like Mirianns, can talk.
